SPAM and spam are not the same

Exactly what IS spam...or SPAM?

First, let's look at spam...

From Wikipedia - the free encyclopedia:

Spamming is the abuse of electronic messaging systems to indiscriminately send unsolicited bulk messages. While the most widely recognized form of spam is e-mail spam, the term is applied to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, wiki spam, mobile phone messaging spam, Internet forum spam and junk fax transmissions.

Now, let's look at SPAM...

From Wikipedia - the free encyclopedia:

SPAM luncheon meat is a canned precooked meat product made by the Hormel Foods Corporation. The labelled ingredients in the Classic variety of SPAM are: chopped pork shoulder meat with ham meat added, salt, water, sugar, and sodium nitrite to help "keep its color".  The product has become part of many jokes and urban legends about mystery meat, which has made it part of pop culture and folklore.

(The name was derived from "Shoulder of Pork And haM".)

So, it is clear that spam has nothing to do with SPAM...and SPAM has nothing to do with spam!  Yet, SOMEBODY out there thinks so!  Just see for yourself!

Take a little detour and go to my post titled Tag...You're It.  (You can travel by way of  http://donnamg.blogster.com/tag-youre-it , if you'd like.)

Once you have arrived, scroll all the way down to the comments and continue your way down through them...I believe you will soon discover "what I am talking about"!!!

LOL! Some people might say that neither form of spam is all that desireable!

You may be right!  Personally, I think SPAM is just fine because people have a CHOICE whether or not they want to include it in their lives.  Now that I've been spammed again (on another post) since posting this one, I wonder if the person behind it knows there could be legal problems by using the brandname SPAM.  (It seems that Hormel gets more upset with people using their product's name is association with any form of spamming than for using the name in any other way.)

Personally, I don't care for either!

I don't care for either, either. lol  I've since had another spam visit and SPAM was the pictured visitor.  For some erroneous reason, the person behind the visit thinks the two are related.

Saw this same thing on another blogster comments. I was going to leave a comment, however with all this canned ham no room was left. I sent her a personal message. Hope you sent this to Kendra?

I haven't sent it anywhere yet.  The reason is that I went to the spammer's site/page and saw that the user/blogger was deleted.  Now, though, I've been hit by another spam.  So, I'm going to check on this one.  I'll decide sooner or later if there's really anything to report.

Oh my! is there an end, does it stop? I couldn't sleep, that's why I'm up blogging. I think I'll make some hot milk an count the different varieties of Spam. That should help me drop off. I wonder if too much spam will give me nightmares?Yell<--------- yawning already

Did you see it?  Yell  Oh, my! Surprised  Oh, well, somebody went to a lot of trouble to be a nuisance. Too bad it's so stupid.

    No spam at greasyLaughing

  • donnamg said 3 months ago

Yeah, but it takes me twice as long to write a post about it there!  lol

I sincerely do hope that greasy never draws these kinds of problems.  Knowing that "troublemakers" are not always selective (although some may be), though, never rule out the possibility of similar problems there.  Heck, I remember a two specific nasty situations that existed in the pogo game site awhile back ... it was downright awful, scary, and obscene.
