A Narrow Win

November 5, 2007 / by donnamg

Yesterday was the game between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts. Both undefeated teams felt they were up to the challenge of the game, although the Colts seemed to be the most prepared as the game progressed. The Patriots were performing in ways fans seldom get to see, for there were sacks and interceptions that were hurting them deeply. Although the scores remained close, the Colts were outplaying the Patriots and had gained the lead. The nerve-wracking, nail-biting game (for fans of both teams) was at times difficult to watch. But, something happened in the second half that gave Brady and the Patriots the extra oomph that was needed and they won the game!

Chances are, New England will have to beat Indy again to reach Arizona for Super Bowl XLII, but the Pats illustrated tremendous drive and persistence even when they lacked poise and discipline during their 24-20 victory. The Patriots were penalized a franchise-high 146 yards and Tom Brady threw a pair of interceptions, matching his total through the team's first eight games. However, the Patriots overcame their first real test of adversity, with Brady throwing the latter two of his three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter for the come-from-behind win and, more importantly, a leg up for home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs.

The Patriots have next week off and will then face the Bills. Hopefully this will give them plenty of time to be ready for that game (and give my nerves from yesterday a chance to calm down).

It certainly was! Everyone loves to see their team way out ahead for obvious reasons, but we all have to admit that a close game is much more intense and makes for a better game-watching experience.[SMILE]
