I Am Not Losing Weight

August 11, 2007 / by donnamg

Why would I want to LOSE weight? LOSING something means that something can not be found, but it might turn up again some day. Well, sorry folks, but I don't want to find the weight again on any day!

I could SHED the weight, I suppose! Naahhh, that isn't going to work either! SHEDDING is like when dry skin falls off or hair falls out; an easy effortless thing that happens all by itself. Nope, weight does not go away easily or effortlessly, and it certainly doesn't go away by itself!

I could DROP the weight, maybe! Hmmmm, I don't thinks so! DROPPING means taking a big load off...ahhh, what a relief. But, no big load is being taken off, not by a long shot! It's truly a little at a time with no relief in sight!

Well, then, I guess I don't know what I'm doing! All this dieting, exercising, drinking water, and gingerly stepping on the scale is telling me that my weight is going DOWN, but I guess I can't really describe what is happening! Maybe I'll figure it out when more weight is LOST from SHEDDING whatever pounds I DROP!

The one thing we all want rid of! weight is like a frisbee, just keeps comming back - well to me it does[GLARE] ive been on a no bread and no white rice diet for 2 weeks, and yet my hormones are craving a Dominos pizza, so where did I send my hubby - to the pizza shop. I need motivation and lots of it. The batteries in my scale have died, im glad in a way save getting depressed. i'll weigh again in 6 months and hope for better results.[SMILE] good luck, I hope it all works out for you.[THUMBUP][HEART]

Read my blog series "Fighting Fat" and you will know I have the credentials.[LOL]
You don't need a scale to know whether you are getting rid of weight or not--you know--plus your clothes are a better indicater.
Your no bread, no rice is NOT the answer--a normal diet, eating normal every day kind of foods is the answer--easiest way to get rid of weight? Count calories--that is what ALL diets are based on--depending on your weight problem if you eat between 1300-1800 calories a day you will get rid of weight weight![THUMBUP]

I know exactly what you mean by frisbee! But, you know, it's not all that good to cut out the things you like completely because it only sets you up for cravings. I made a list of all the healthy foods I like, figured out their calories to determine how much of them I can eat in a day's menu, and try to stick with those foods. I then made a list of other foods I like that aren't really too bad or a "safer" treat and figured out the calories and amounts so that I can include them within a day every once in awhile. But, on special occassions or after pretty long stretches of "being good", I will treat myself and cheat a little....you know, have some of the goodies that I don't ordinarily get to have, like a piece of cake, or a small order of fish and chips, a juicy cheeseburger, some creamy dressing on a salad, etc. I don't feel "punished" by my diet this way and, when I see favorable results on the scale, I feel more motivated. (P.S. I can make a mean veggie pizza on a thin, crispy or not, tortilla wrap "crust". Try it, experiment with things, you might find you can find "treats" right in the middle of all that healthier, smaller portion food that you get to eat.)

Using Lynette's term, I want to say that, so far, since writing the blog, I have gotten RID of 16 pounds! I learned that because I am older, I can actually eat more calories (I like that) than I was eating! I was actually retaining weight due to undernourishment! Oh, this makes things a bit easier![THUMBUP]
