July 3rd, Chapter 2

July 6, 2008 / by donnamg

It's so nice of you to continue on with me.  Here we are at Bristol Harbor.

It's quite windy, but it should calm down once the tide is completely in.

See?  The water level is very low.  When the tide is fully in, the rocky and sandy area, and the grassy area protruding into the water can not be seen at all.  Matter of fact, the water will almost touch those boats.

There are some beautiful flowers in the yards of the houses across the street from the park at the harbor.

The park is called Independence Park and the end of the park that we are in is the section that is dedicated to the Navy.  (If you're wondering why the bottom of my pants are wet, it's because I had just come for a walk at the water's edge, but that tide is coming in and a little wave surprised me.)

Mom and Dad were relaxing, enjoying the view and their cups of coffee (while I was trying to duck out of the picture).  The Interfaith Choir was performing on the stage in the center of the park, so we had some nice background music going on.

Sunset was quickly approaching.  It wouldn't be long before other people would start crowding the area for the fireworks display over the harbor.

Edie and I walked to the stage area in the park's center when the US Navy Band was performing.  They were excellent.

The sun may look like it's still high, but sunset would come quickly now.

The sun did set, the sky grew darker, and then everything became dark.  It was time for the fireworks display.  Below is an oh-my-goodness-short-video that I recorded during the fireworks display.  (Forgive me, it's my very first video attempt.)

I would love to live close to the water like you do. What a great setting for fireworks!

It was a little cool, but very pretty.  We'll have one more fireworks display this year for Labor Day to close our Bristol Summer Concert Series.  It will be held here at Independence Park, too.

The video came out great!  It looks like it was a blast.  You definitely had more sunshine than we did that day.

It was a lot of fun and thanks for the compliment on my video.  Uh, oh, though, because now I'm latching onto another fun thing with my camera, so I'm going to be hanging around a lot over at YouTube! lol

I was so excited when I made that video and saw that it worked!  Now, another hobby for me! LOL

We did have a blast.  The town is so quiet now with the crowds gone and all the excitement in the past.  The peaceful little town is nice to have back again, too.
