Rhode Island is well aware of Casimir Pulaski, which is why we have a park named after him! It is located in the town of Glocester, which is located in the northeastern part of the state close to the Connecticut border.

Casimir Pulaski State Park, an entire greenbelt dedicated to the man who was known as the Father of the American Cavalry.

(I just finished reading southwesterngrad's post on Casimir Pulaski and it made me want to share this little bit of information with her and everyone.)

Beautiful park! I'm sure people in the 13 original colonies are much more famililiar with Revolutionary War heroes than we frontierspeople in Oklahoma. We're much more familiar with names like General George Custer, Roman Nose, Geronamo, and Will Rogers.
I have to be honest with you...I knew the park was named after somebody from the war, but I didn't know anything about him until I read your post. He may be known by historians here and certainly is deserving of all the honors, but I don't think as many people/places around here are taught that much about him. So, once again, I thank you for YOUR post.
Cool! THis is near my house!

Yeah, not too far at all!
Thanks for the added info, and kudos to the general and Rhode Island!
Oh, you're welcome! It was out of curiosity that I had to look up "why" RI's Pulaski Park was named that because I didn't really know. I wondered if it had any connection to the person southwesterngrad wrote about. So, wow!, I learned something new about RI, too!.
As a said i=on Greasy: a great place to be Donna!
Yep, you are right. It is a great.
These pictures are gorgeous! All schools are closed in Illinois to commemorate Pulaski.
This is the first that I've ever heard of this holiday. That's why it perked up my interest so much. I also liked the pictures and was quite pleased when I saw them because it has been so long since I've been to that park that I really didn't remember what it looked like...and I have a pretty good memory for places. I am planning on taking a ride out there to see the park to get more familiar with it.
What a beautiful park. Now I am enspired to go mow my lawn!
LOL...don't overdo it, keep it pretty and lush. Nature didn't intend for lawns to be too short and stubby to the ground unless it's a golf course! lol
My son and I love a good round of golf!
