Getting Along a Tad Bit Better

January 27, 2008 / by donnamg

Well, I've downloaded Firefox and I can see some improvement.  One thing that comes as a great relief and joy to me is that I can now reply instead of having to remain silent or send messages directly to the person I wish to reply to.  I also notice that things move a bit faster.  Pages open a bit quicker than before and comments "take" a more quickly.

Within Blogster itself, I find myself being very comfortable with writing within the new Blogster window and using the various font styles and sizes.  I like the fact that I can easily use bold, italics, and underline features, as well as the alignment and color choices.

I do not know how to get a picture or graphic in a post yet.  Do I have to have photos in my folder to do so or can I get photos from outside of the photo folder?  I see the "Add Photos" section to the right of the blogging area and have clicked on the "Browse" button to locate and select a photo I've wanted, but can't figure out what to do from that point on.  (I know it is probably simple, but I'm used to seeing a code pop up to cut and paste in, now I don't know what to do because I don't see that anymore.)

I would appreciate comments, suggestions, and instructions that might help me to understand how to insert pictures from anyone who can be of any help.  I do want to emphasize, though, that I am becoming more and more comfortable with the new Blogster and feel that I will get better as time goes on.

I download to my pictures folder first.  However, I believe you can download from an outside source by using the window icon at the top.

Thank you.  I think I will try both...one never knows when one feature might be a better option in certain cases.

I read your comments and I have to tell you that something is not right.  No little picture is appearing anywhere at all.  I am also going to add this little tid-bit to nittinneedles comment; No, I am not getting an "upload" button or anything anywhere.

Don't quite understand what you are saying--I download pictures from either my 'my documents' or 'my pictures' so when I go to 'add photos' and hit browse I just go to 'my documents' click on teh picture and then download it.

Well, mine has never worked that way, as far as I know.  I always did download from "my pictures"...clicked on "add photos", clicked on "browse".. that would bring me to "my pictures", clicked on the picture I wanted, the ID of that picture showed in the little box "window" next to the "browse" button, then I would click on...sorry, I don't remember exactly if it was a link-type word or button...the code for that picture would be displayed, I would copy it and then paste it where I wanted it in my blog.   That's the old way.  Now, I still have the same "browse" button, it still takes me to "my pictures", I click on the picture and the ID of that picture shows up in the little box "window" next to the "browse" button.  And, that's as far as I get.  So, it appears that I do just like you but after I click on the picture....you say you download it, I don't know how to download it.

That is correct.  What is going to happen is that a small photo will pop up.  You then set your cursor in your text where you wish the picture to appear; click on the small photo and it will download into the text.

Not sure but isn't theer an icon that says download or upload or something like that?
  • southwesterngrad said 7 months ago
Yes, it is the right of your text.  It will say "browse."  Click on that.  It will open your documents/pictures window.  Then click on your photo.  When it finishes downloading you should see a small version of it directly  above and to the right.  Set your curser where you want it to appear; then click on that small  photo.  This will  allow your photo to appear where you want it in the text.

No.  After reading your comment about click and download, southwesterngrad's comment about a photo appearing, and nittineedles' comment about an "upload" button, I went and checked everything out very carefully.  There is no "upload" button or anything anywhere before or after I click on the "browse" button.  There is also no photo that appears anywhere at any time.  I may have to submit my little problem to Jonathan or something.

When the ID of your picture shows up in the little box "window" next to the browse button an upload button will appear on the otherside of your browse button.  After you click on the upload button your picture appears in a box above that.  Then all you need to do is click on the picture to get it into your blog but that's the point where it stops working for me.Yell

Ok, I'm going to try it again.  Thanks and wish me luck....oh, I wish you luck, too!

To your second comment....your question...I didn't notice an upload button before.  Maybe I just didn't have my screen/window far enough over to see it, so I'm going to go back to check it out.  If it's there, I'm going to try it.
  • donnamg said 7 months ago
No, nittineedles, I am not getting an "upload" button.  And, as I stated to southwesterngrad, no photo appears or anything like that.  So, something is not quite right here, I'm afraid.

There must be, but I don't seem to see it.  When I go to "my pictures", I have a choice of "open" or "cancel".  I hit "open" and whatever I need appears near the "browse" button in blogster.  I just don't know where to go or what to do from that point on.  (I don't have any pics in the picture file, either, but I don't know how to put any in there.  So, in other words, I don't know how to get a picture into anything.  I never had a problem before, always had it figured out and knew what to do.  I just "don't see it" here and now.)

Are you not getting the upload button?

I'm going to have to have a talk with "The Team".  I seem to be missing some important components!

I don't know about you, but I have learned something just from reading all of the comments. I will try to add a picture next time that I post to see if I can get it done without problems.

These comments have been so informative!  A complete lesson in posting pictures!  Everything will be so helpful when I reach the point of being able to upload pictures, but the information has already been helpful to me because it was enough to let me know that something is wrong with my "post new blog" page and not with me.  (I have sent a message to Jonathan for help.)  I wish you luck with your picture posting and I await seeing the results!Smile

  • donnamg said 6 months ago
Thanks, I keep trying different fonts to see what looks good, what looks better, etc.  Yeah, we should all gradually get more and more used to it as time goes on.
