Memorial Day, 2008, and Edie had to work. I, though, had the day off and spent it exactly the way I wanted to. Although there would be earlier services at one of the cemeteries near the edge town, that was a bit more than a reasonable walk away, so I did opt to not attend. Instead, I had plenty of time to make the walk into the center of town where there would be more things going on once the parade from the cemetery reached it.
Downtown Bristol is only a short walk from my apartment, with the actual location that I was interested in was only a mere two blocks down and two blocks over. With the weather being as beautiful as it was, I decided that enjoying the walk (and snapping some pictures along the way) would be a nice way to start the day. I'm going to share some of those pictures with you now. I don't know, but I think Memorial Day does make one think of a lot of things, and some of those things include days from the past, flowers, and flags...so I think these pictures are quite appropriate for the holiday.

What amazing pcitures!
AJ
Don't think I have forgotten you didn't get Gere for me!!! What is the name of the movie so when it comes out I can get a glimpse of your city--and salivate over him!?!?
Thanks, AJ. I still don't have my ink, but I'm getting the pictures in anyway. I'm not always sure they will come out as good...the editing feature isn't as good...but these came out ok.
Oh, you're so silly, Martin. The name of the movie is "Hachiko: A Dog's Story". Now, try to remember that the dog is the main character, not Richard Gere. And, Joan Allen is in the movie, too, not just Richard Gere.
You're back even without your Ink... you are an amazing woman! Beautiful picutres as always. You really do have a talent.
Memorial days are always a bit special. Wonderful pics btw Donna.
Beautiful post and pictures to match. Yes they did capture the thoughts and ideals of the Holiday.

Frog, thank you. I would still prefer to have the ink, but I couldn't wait any longer!
Thank you, Robin. Yes, Memorial Days are special. It's nice to have the day off, but there's more to the day than that.
Thank you, ana. I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
What beautiful flowers and such! Living in Alaska, we don't see trees and flowers quite like we see in the "south" -- landscaping isn't a very common thing up here. Thanks for sharing your photos :)
Oh, you are very welcome. I am sure, though, that there are plenty of other spectacular sights in Alaska!
