Exercising Patience - AGAIN!

February 4, 2008 / by donnamg

I don't know what is going on or why, but I am back to having problems in Blogster similar to what I had before.

Although I successfully uploaded two new pictures last night for a blog I was going to do, I couldn't get any more pictures to "take" after that.  Because I need at least four pictures in the piece, I was not happy.

I decided to cut my information in half.  I can write the portion that includes the two pictures I uploaded and then do the other portion later on when I can get the other two pictures uploaded.  What a great idea!  Except, the idea didn't work!  The pictures wouldn't "transfer" correctly.  One went in ok, but I really couldn't do with it what I wanted to.  The other picture refused to go where I wanted it to go and frustrated me more and more as I kept trying.

That's when I decided to give up on the post all together, at least for the time being.  But, before shutting the page down, I could see some photos in my "file" that I didn't need anymore, so I figured I would delete them and "clean up" the file first.  Nope, that wasn't going to happen, either!  I clicked on "delete" and nothing happened. I tried a few more times and got the same results...nothing happened.  Never mind doing anything further, I thought, so I shut it down.

That was in IE, which is what generally works for posting with pictures.  I decided to take a chance with Firefox, just out of curiosity.  Same results; I couldn't upload, couldn't "tranfer" the pics I already had, and couldn't delete.  This pretty much convinced me that the problem was with Blogster, and not with me or the browsers I was using.

It's a new day.  I decided to "take a look and try again", but things are the same.  I did want to at least change my avatar today, but it appears I can't do that either.  Not so far, anyway.

Everything else seems to be fine, except things do seem a lot slower today.  But, everybody else's posts look ok, some even include graphics of sorts.  Oh, well, I'll just have to exercise some patience.......again!

It is so very frustrating when things do not go as they should. I'm not a computer whiz; consequently, when things don't go right, I don't either!

    Bummer!

I just remember another person who had become so frustrated and upset because of a very special post she had put together and worked so hard on, only to have it go "kaphlooey" on her!  She did have the determination and patience to re-create the whole thing and to successfully post it.

I have had similar things happen to me, but with much smaller or less important blogs I've wanted to add.  I have been praying that I would be spared the frustration that poor woman went through.  So, I held off on the "big stuff" until I felt things were running better.

Now I see that things aren't yet as good as they appeared to be.  I'm more frustrated by the fact that I still feel a need to hold off on some things I want to do because, fortunately, no major project of mine has been destroyed or damaged or put on any "missing" list.

I just can't wait for the day when things are operating correctly with consistency.

I have found that if I post whatever pictures blogster will allow me on the first run, I can edit and post more pictures moments later. It seems to me that poor old blogster can't do too much work in one go!

Oh, yeah....I was able to put pics in and then found I could do more and more posts with pictures.  Now, though, I can't upload, post, or delete a picture to save my life.

I'm having exactly the same problem.  Can't add or delete pictures.  I  have  resorted to copying and saving the picture just as I do text, then pasting it in.  So far, that is working.

Maybe I'm going to have to try the copy and pasting option.  I just like the uploading feature so much...when it's working, that is.

I am having the same problem with firefox--I wrote Jonathan and he asked exactly what was happening--write him a message because he wants to know these things--just c & p your blog or point him towards it--I really think WE have to keep them aware of what's going on at our end.

By the way--all of a sudden my comment spell check is working!!!

  • donnamg said 6 months ago

Woo hoo!  Your spell check is working!!!  Another sign that work is being done and progress is being made!

Unfortunately, though, some things that have been "fixed" become "un-fixed".  Yeah, I'm going to inform Jonathan.  I know he's heard it before if others are having problems, but I want him to be aware that I am among those affected by these problems.

I'm so confused now!  I'm even messing up the replies more and more often!  Did you even see my reply to you or am I replying again or is this going to be a comment?  I'm sorry...I'm really trying to be patient, to understand what I'm doing and what's going on, but this cold has me so miserable that I'm not up to speed myself right now.  Anways, there might be a "loose" comment underneath this that was intended for you.

That disappearing act happened to me, too!  Delete a pic in the file and, abracadabra, the pic disappears from the blog, too!  But, now it's completely different...I can't even delete a pic from the file to begin with!  I can't add any to the file, either!  Oh, I'm sure it's only temporary, but I'm going to let Jonathan know anyway.

I was wrong about spellcheck--when I click on the icon I get 'spellchecker.n_mpel   whatever that means  I once got a message about downloading spellchecker but nothing happened.

  • donnamg said 6 months ago

Oh, yeah, I've seen that, too.  I don't have a clue what to do with that!  It's the "regular" spellcheck that you are looking for, the not-so-complicated- thing that comes in handy, right?  Nope, I haven't seen it around in quite awhile.
