An absolute showman, but if he lived in a time when television didn't help drawing in fans and/or he chose to be a professional concert pianist on performing on stage with symphony orchestras, his talent for playing the piano would have made him a household name (and he may have been appreciated more by serious musicians and fans of classical music). I have numerous albums of his and, without the presence of visual, all I can hear is perfection, clarity, and expression. Add the glitz and glamor, and you've got a shimmery, crazy spectacle with a modest touch of true musical talent, which was just the right mix to crossover to the likes of an audience with broader entertainment interests.
There used to be a Stars Hall of Fame museum in Florida that went to on a couple of occasions and some of his costumes, jewelry, and one of his grand pianos were on display...it was tremendous. I can only imagine how fabulous his museum in Las Vegas must be.
I should mention, too, that I adore his playing and the sound of the music he creates. My favorite of all time is when he performs Tchaikovsky's "Piano Concerto No. 1" , popularly known as "Tonight We Love".

My experiences in growing up were very much like yours and, yet, very different. While I might have played in much the same way as you, a lot of what was in my world was different than yours. I think there's a lot of good old-fashioned value that could be applied to childhood today, but I think that all children and people should get out of their own little towns once in awhile and be a part of what is the real world because there really is a world outside of "This Spot, USA" and there are other people out there, too.

Ohhh, they had corn dogs at the stand right next to the one with the french fries
... but it was already closed!
I didn't stay sad too long, though, not after spotting such cute animals!

I often go through the day without realizing that time has marched on and I haven't had a thing to eat! So, I really have to pay attention or I'll go on for endless days of only eating once a day.... and not until around 6:00 PM or so. When I do eat, it is often at the computer. I've never spilled anything, thank goodness, but I have made the keyboard and mouse a little sticky or greasy a number of times.

It sounds like you and me both are doing pretty good. I was so busy with other things (even "for me" things) that I never did get to post anything more during the day. But, hey, there's always another day and I did get a few things done so there's a teenie-weenie bit less left to do.

YOU WON!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, the little people (that includes me, I'm only 5' tall!) all think you deserve being recognized and the winner of the prize!
I sure do hope you like your make believe clock, it's sure to bring you "hours" of pleasure!
Oh, you wanted it in blue? Hmmmm, soooooo you are one of those picky winners, huh? Do you know how far I had to go to get these beautifully, gorgeous state-of-the-art flower clocks? Hmmmmm? I had to go all the way to Googleland! It took me many valuable minutes to reach it, pick it, load it, and deliver it. And, you want blue? This blue? >>>
Hey! No problem! I believe you can pick up a make believe can of blue paint at any make believe hardware or paint store!

Congratulations, ana!
I hope you enjoy your make believe flower clock...I'm sure it will look lovely in your imaginary green house!
I sort of like picking a name, too. But, they did have their own style of surnames...they just went by their father's/ancestor's name...which is a lot like others did....like Jacobson....where surnames matched earlier relatives, tribes, cities, even occupations, so a lot weren't really "chosen". Carl's dad had the luxury, though, of being able to choose one and Carl took advantage of it by picking to use a number of variations on it.
I think it's cool that your husband took your maiden name. I think it's good to use the name chosen, too, and not necessarily automatically go with the assumed one.
